When does The Walking Dead part 3 return to AMC?
By Renee Hansen
It is Sunday, and we should be preparing for a new episode of The Walking Dead. But, sadly, that isn’t the case. There isn’t even a new episode of Fear the Walking Dead airing tonight. AMC is having a Die Hard marathon today if that interests you, with the premiere of the new psychological thriller Dark Winds thrown in at TWD’s usual 9 p.m. ET time slot. The big question is, when does The Walking Dead return?
Fans are gearing up for the final eight episodes of The Walking Dead series. It is a bittersweet time as we all look forward to what is to come but also dread it because these episodes will conclude the series that has run for 12 years. Season 11 has been broken into three parts, the first beginning in August 2021 and the second in February 2022. The final season has seen a heavy focus on the Commonwealth, a progressive community that, on the outside, appears to be a chance at a better life, similar to what it was like before the outbreak. But, things are slowly being revealed, indicating that everything isn’t all it seems.
There has been no official announcement from AMC for the premiere of part 3 of season 11, but our best guess is that we won’t see The Walking Dead, season 11, episode 17 until at least the first weekend of October. This month has traditionally been the premiere month for new seasons of the series that began on Halloween night, 2010.
An official announcement will undoubtedly come soon. Perhaps at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which will be the last time the flagship series will appear. Showrunner Angela Kang shared her excitement for the upcoming event via social media while also fondly remembering the 2019 event. The official trailer for part 3 will most likely be premiered at this event as well.

The Walking Dead universe – what’s to come?
Luckily we won’t have to wait until the fall for new TWDU content. It was recently announced that Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere on August 14. The first episode of season 1 of this series will air at 9 p.m. ET on AMC, with the first two episodes airing on this same date on AMC+.
Tales of the Walking Dead is a spinoff that is an anthology-based series featuring standalone stories. No plot details have been announced for the individual stories, but IMDB does have episode one’s title listed as “Heist.”
Fear the Walking Dead will begin filming its eighth season this summer, and Isle of the Dead will begin filming its first season.
