As we wait for information from San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in July regarding The Walking Dead universe, fans are watching for any crumb of news regarding the new spinoffs that will be coming in 2023. Luckily, Norman Reedus talked with Leo Edit and did give a few details about his upcoming spinoff that will see him reprise his role as Daryl Dixon after The Walking Dead airs its final episode.

Fans of The Walking Dead are anxiously awaiting the release date for the series’ final eight episodes. The vague answer is fall 2022, and we think it will be October 2, keeping with the traditional October premiere dates. It is speculated that information will be released at SDCC along with the official trailer for season 11, part 3.

Daryl Dixon is one of two characters who has been on the series since the beginning and still going strong. The second is Carol Peletier, who Melissa McBride portrays. The duo was set to go off on an adventure in their own series, but McBride has decided to take time off. According to Reedus, “She deserves a break, and she’s got some personal things she needs to take care of.” And who can blame her? She has been filming this series for 12 years and the final season required a 14-month commitment. Who wouldn’t need a break?

Norman Reedus – Walking Dead spinoff

The details we know so far are the Daryl spinoff’s title has yet to be released; it will be filmed and set in Europe, and Reedus believes it could begin filming as early as September 2023.

He has also shared with several media outlets that Daryl could run into characters who have been missing from the series. This led fans to think Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) may also star in this spinoff, which this writer isn’t ok with. But, during the course of the series, several characters have just fallen off the grid. Perhaps some of these characters will make a return. The biggest question is how will Daryl travel to Europe? The Civic Republic? The Commonwealth? PADRE?

Another great comment Reedus made in the interview with Leo Edit is that with all the expansion of the stories in TWDU, eventually, characters will come back together, including Daryl and Carol, who he says will definitely come back together.

The spinoff will be different from the flagship series, which should be positive. Why create a spinoff that is exactly like what we have already watched? It is exciting to think we will see what another part of the world has experienced in the apocalypse. Perhaps we will see more of the variant walkers featured in the after-credits scene at the end of The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

Reedus commented that he is excited to do something new with this character. Daryl will be in a new environment, and a new crew will handle the series. It is an exciting time for fans of Daryl Dixon and actor Norman Reedus.

Check out the entire article with Leo Edit as he shares a great moment about a red Cardinal that lands about five feet from him while he is doing the interview and more about his debut novel, The Ravaged, and so much more. It is a fantastic in-depth interview that fans of Norman Reedus can’t miss.
