Isle of the Dead filming in Holmdel, New Jersey
By Renee Hansen
While Comic Con 2022 is in full swing on the west coast, Isle of the Dead is gearing up on the east. The spin off series features Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), the main characters of The Walking Dead series that will air its final eight episodes in October 2022.
While there isn’t much known about the plot of Isle of the Dead other than it is set on Manhattan island and the pair will be on a mission together, fans of the flagship series are excited to see Negan and Maggie’s stories continue.
Patch has informed locals that portions of Route 35 in Holmdel, New Jersey, will be closed off beginning on Friday, July 22, from 8 p.m. ET until Saturday, July 23 at 5 a.m. ET. The closure will take place between Union Avenue and Miller Avenue. The Holmdel Police Department announced the closure on its Facebook page, and The New Jersey Department of Transportation also made the announcement.
It is exciting to see things being for Isle of the Dead, which is scheduled to release on AMC sometime in 2023.
The Walking Dead spin off – Isle of the Dead
Morgan and Cohan are the only two characters from the flagship series that have been announced for this series, but fans wonder if any of their family characters will join them. Negan has recently announced he is married to Annie (Medina Senghore), who is expecting their child. And Maggie has her son Hershel (Kien Michael Spiller) from her marriage to Glenn (Steven Yeun), who Negan killed.
It seems odd that they would leave their families for any reason, but the writers did have Michonne (Danai Gurira) do this same thing. Perhaps Daryl will end up caring for all the children in his spin-off that is set to take place in Europe.
The only other cast announcement, so far, has been Gaius Charles, who plays a character named Perlie Armstrong.
Perhaps there will be more information about Isle of the Dead at Comic Con 2022. We will share that and any other information released during this year’s event.
