Tales of the Walking Dead is the newest installment in The Walking Dead universe. This series is quite different from anything else in the universe. Each story in the six-episode first season tells a standalone story about newly introduced characters, save for one featuring Alpha (Samantha Morton), but her story will also be new.

Fans of The Walking Dead universe will enjoy the expansion of the fandom with the new stories and characters. Still, any viewer can watch these stories without ever seeing another episode of The Walking Dead or any of its spinoffs.

As someone lucky to preview three episodes of the series, I can honestly say what I have seen so far is a fresh take on the genre. It is great to see stories taking place in different parts of the United States during various stages of the apocalypse.

Tales of the Walking Dead spin off release date

The series will air its first episode, “Evie/Joe,” on AMC on Sunday, August 14 at 9 p.m. ET. This same date will see the release of episodes 1 and 2, “Blair/Gina,” on AMC+. The remaining four episodes will release on AMC+ one week early.

The three episodes that were previewed all have a different tone and feel, which makes sense as they were directed and written by different people. The nice thing about anthologies is you get a great mix of talent with other writers and directors as well as a whole list of different actors but with the same showrunner, Channing Powell, to keep things in line with the fandom.
