Colman Domingo shares first look at Rustin for Netflix

Colman Domingo is well known in The Walking Dead universe for his portal of the cunning Victor Strand in Fear the Walking Dead. He is a versatile actor who can tackle any role and proved this with several memorable roles, including Ali in Euphoria and Cutler in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He will also play the role of Mister in a musical adaptation of The Color Purple. Another role that is undoubtedly to be one that Domingo will be remembered for is that of the civil rights activist Bayard Rustin.
The film will be produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions and premiere on Netflix in 2023. Directed by George C. Wolfe, who wrote the screenplay with Dustin Lance Black, the film is titled Rustin and will detail the life of a man who played a vital behind-the-scenes role in racial equality in America.
Baynard Rustin, who was openly gay, opted to stay in the background as he valiantly fought for racial equality. He organized the 1963 March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial and delivered his moving “I Have A Dream” speech.
Upon his death, he was praised by President Ronald Reagan for never giving up his convictions. In 2013, President Barack Obama posthumously awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Domingo shared a first-look photo of himself as Rustin on Instagram. Although Domingo has starred in several successful films, Rustin marks his first leading role.
