No new Walking Dead but Talking Dead airs Preview Special this Sunday
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead series will air its final eight episodes beginning October 2 on AMC. In the meantime, Tales of the Walking Dead will begin airing on August 14 to fill the void. This show is an anthology series with standalone stories introducing new characters and telling a backstory of Alpha (Samantha Morton) in one of the episodes. But, this week, Talking Dead has a special treat for The Walking Dead universe fans.
Talking Dead is an after-show that airs following episodes of The Walking Dead and its spinoff series to dive into what has occurred during the latest episodes. The series features special guests, including cast members, directors, writers and celebrity super fans.
Hosted by Chris Hardwick, the series runs for an hour with features special segments, including the favorite “In Memoriam,” which highlights the deaths from the episode, online polls, behind-the-scenes footage, fan questions and more.
Talking Dead: Walking Dead Universe Preview
On Sunday, August 7 at 9 p.m. ET AMC will air Talking Dead: Walking Dead Universe Preview. This episode will tease all of the upcoming spinoff series. The guest list includes Walking Dead COO Scott M. Gimple, director Michael Satrazemis, Terry Crews, Jillian Bell and Anthony Edwards.
Crews, Bell and Edwards star in separate episodes of Tales of the Walking Dead, so it will be exciting to see what they can share about their episodes. Crews stars as Joe in episode 1, Bell as Gina in episode 3, and Edwards as Dr. Everrett in episode 4.
The other spinoffs that will be up for discussion are Isle of the Dead, which is currently filming in New Jersey, the Rick and Michone series, and the Daryl Dixon series, which has been rumored to begin filming as early as September.
