The Walking Dead universe is full of news regarding the new spinoff series. With all of the announcements, it can be quite confusing to understand which series will air first, which ones are filming and which ones star who. We have the complete list that is updated as news is released. But, what is the newest series in TWDU?

On Sunday, August 14, Tales of the Walking Dead will be the newest series to premiere on AMC in The Walking Dead universe. This series will air during the usually TWDU timeslot of 9 p.m. ET. Subscribers of AMC+ will be able to view episodes early, with the first episode airing on Thursday, August 11, and the remaining episodes airing one week earlier on Sundays.

Tales of the Walking Dead will be unique to the universe as it is told in an anthology format. Each of the six episodes in the first season will be stand-alone stories that introduce several new characters. One familiar character, Alpha, will be featured in the third episode, but this will also be a new chapter of her story.

The media has had the privilege of previewing the first four episodes, and this writer is impressed with what she has seen so far. Each of the four episodes are uniquely its own, with vastly different settings, characters and storytelling formats. It is exciting to see these stories across different timelines of the apocalypse and how different personalities handle the same catastrophe.

This series has also introduced a talented group of actors to TWDU, including Terry Crews, Danny Ramirez, Samantha Morton,  Poppy Liu, Olivia Munn, Parker Posey, Jillian Bell, Daniella Pineda, Embeth Davidtz, Lauren Glazier, Rachael Markarian, Jessie T. Usher, Loan Chabanol, Anthony Edwards, Matt Medrano, Eric Tiede, Gage Munroe, Natalie Karp, Kersti Bryan, Scarlett Blum, Nick Basta, Marvin LaViolette, Kevin J. Johnson and many more.

Showrunner Channing Powell shared in an interview that although season 1 only had six stories, the creators did come up with at least 25 possible stories for this series. Hopefully, it will be renewed, and viewers will get many more of these amazing stories in the future.
