AMC Networks has released more news regarding the October release of The Walking Dead’s last eight episodes. Fans of the series eagerly anticipate while also dreading the third part of season 11. This will make the final chapter in the long-running series, but several spinoffs are in the works ensuring The Walking Dead universe stays around for some time.

This October, The Walking Dead will air its finale premiere episode, 1117, on AMC on October 2 at 9 p.m. On this same date, AMC+ will air episodes 1117 and 1118, with subsequent episodes airing one week early. There have been rumors that the network will hold the series finale to only air on AMC on November 20, but there has been no official announcement.

The Walking Dead’s last eight episodes will close chapters of several characters while leaving doors open for others to head off to continue their stories in a spinoff series. So far, the announced spinoff series features Negan and Maggie in Isle of the Dead, Daryl in a spinoff set in France, and Rick and Michonne in a series of their own.

The Walking Dead season 11 part 3

At the end of the midseason finale, Lance Hornsby had taken over the communities of Alexandria, Hilltop and Oceanside. At the same time, Aaron, Gabe, Daryl and Maggie and the others sealed their fates as enemies of the CW by retaliating against them. Negan and his Riverside crew are also enemies of the CW.

Inside the walls of the Commonwealth, Connie and her group have set things into motion with the rogue publication revealing the shady dealings of the powerful Milton family.

The latest synopsis for the final eight episodes and the official trailer shows our survivors in dire straights.

"With Commonwealth flags raised at Hilltop, Alexandria, and Oceanside, there’s no time to strategize for those on the road. It’s a race against the clock to stay alive and extract those still living in the Commonwealth before Hornsby (Josh Hamilton) can execute his revenge. Inside the Commonwealth, Connie’s (Lauren Ridloff) article has created more chaos than planned. By exposing the Milton’s (Laila Robbins) corruption, their hope to create a better, more equal, life for all may instead put everyone at risk. With the vast debt our group owes and no other viable place to live, simply leaving has never been an option. But if their next move fails, staying won’t be an option either. What they’re about to embark on will only invite more danger with massive consequences. The clock is ticking for our heroes inside the Commonwealth as well. As each group continues to get caught in uncontrollable situations, threats lurk around every corner, dead and alive. The looming pressure is cresting towards a day of reckoning for all. Will the sum of their individual journeys cumulate into one, or divide them forever? The fight for a future continues to be exasperated by the ominous population of walkers. Not all will survive, but for some, the walking dead lives on."

With all of the communities under the thumb of the CW, where else can the survivors go? There aren’t enough of them to come against the soldiers and the horde entering the community walls. Will Mercer, who has appeared to begin to question where his loyalties are, come alongside our survivors and bring some of his soldiers with him?

The last eight episodes will be exciting, and sadly we will lose some of our favorites, but who will it be? Only time will tell.
