The Walking Dead: Dead City is another chapter in The Walking Dead universe that will continue the story of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) after the 12-year run of the flagship series that ended on November 20, 2022. This series will see the unlikely pairing of Negan and Maggie as they set off on a mission to the island of Manhattan.

Filming for the series began earlier this summer in New Jersey and will also take place in New York. Although nothing has been announced regarding what will bring this pair to New York, the information released is quite interesting.

Manhattan was cut off from the mainland early after the outbreak when the US government destroyed all the bridges and tunnels leading to the island. This has allowed a horde of walkers one million strong to overrun the island, and any humans remaining must live above the tenth floor and travel via ziplines.

Eli Jorné is the series’s writer, executive producer, and showrunner. He has previously written three episodes for The Walking Dead’s season 10, “What It Always Is,” “Walk With Us” (with Nicole Mirante-Matthews), and “A Certain Doom” (with Corey Reed and Jim Barnes). Scott M. Gimple, Morgan, and Cohan will also serve as executive producers on the series.
