Tales of the Walking Dead: Parker Posey’s Blair – Jennifer Jolie similarities
By Renee Hansen
The second Tales of the Walking Dead episode starred the iconic Parker Posey as a self-absorbed overbearing Blair, the boss at the Circle of Trust Insurance Company. She and her underappreciated, disgruntled employee Gina (Jillian Bell) experience a reality-twisting apocalyptic adventure in the episode “Blair/Gina.”
I was able to preview this episode ahead of the AMC airing, and the first thought that came to mind was that Posey was channeling her inner Jennifer Jolie, a character she portrayed in Scream 3, for her role as Blair. It would have been perfect if she had bangs and some fun streaks in her hair.
If you have never seen Scream 3, shame on you, but Jennifer Jolie is a role played by Posey in the third installment of the Scream franchise, where she is actually portraying a role in a movie about the original Scream movie, Scream-ception; if you will. If that is too confusing, it makes no matter; what does matter is the similarities between Posey’s two characters.
Parker Posey – Tales of the Walking Dead and Scream 3
Am I trying to stay Posey portrays the same character in all her roles? Far from it. I am only commenting on this as a fan of her work and because I love that Blair is so much like Jennifer. If Jennifer had (spoiler alert) survived her Scream movie, she could be Blair in later years.
Both characters are overly dramatic and self-centered to the point that others around them ignore whatever they will say next, knowing it is all about them. Their fashion sense was very similar, going for the outrageous. And the mannerisms and the screams! Spot on!
Posey is an actress who isn’t afraid to play the quirky, over-the-top characters, and she is a welcome addition to TWD Family with her portrayal of Blair in Tales of the Walking Dead.
One of Jennifer’s quotes said in a high-strung, anxious voice could have been said by Blair.
"“I’ve got no house, no bodyguard, no movie and I’m being stalked. Because someone wants to kill me? No, because someone wants to kill you. So, now, starting now, I go where you go. So that if someone wants to kill me, I’ll be with you and since they really wanna kill you, they won’t kill me, they’ll kill you, make sense?”"
This was such a treat as a massive fan of TWD and the Scream movies.
Do you agree? Do you think Posey was channeling Jennifer in her role as Blair? Let me know in the comments below.
