Is The Walking Dead on tonight? (September 25, 2022)
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead series has been on hiatus since April, when the midseason finale aired for season 11. This episode saw Maggie (Lauren Cohan) prepared to defend Hilltop and Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) new community of Riverside against the Commonwealth’s Deputy Governor Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton). Will The Walking Dead air a new episode tonight?
Sadly, we still have one more week to wait until the premiere of season 11, part 3. On October 2, 2022, AMC will air the first episode of the remaining eight to close out the series. The seventeenth episode of the massive 24-episode final season is titled “Lockdown” and will pick up soon after the midseason finale.
The good news is the Talking Dead will be airing a special tonight, September 25, at 9 p.m. ET. Walking Dead: The Final Episodes Preview will feature special guests, showrunner Angela Kang, Cooper Andrews (Jerry), and Paola Lázaro (Princess). They will discuss the upcoming season.
The Walking Dead season 11 part 3
There is much expected from the final eight episodes. There are many loose ends to wrap up, plus a whole battle against the Commonwealth. It is a real possibility that many loose ends will remain forever unwrapped.
Another hard thing to take in is that when a series ends, people die. It is the way things are. Will the writers have the courage to go out this way? Or will everyone be happy with rainbows and ice cream? Only time will tell.
Viewers know several characters will survive the last eight episodes. Maggie and Negan will go on to The Walking Dead: Dead City, which is currently filming. Daryl (Norman Reedus) will make his way to France in a series of his own. Carol (Melissa McBride) will also survive as she was scheduled for a spinoff but has decided to take some time off.
That leaves many other major characters who could meet their demise before the series ends. This is an apocalypse story, so it makes sense this will happen. But, with so many series endings disappointing fans, will AMC be bold enough to show some deaths? I feel the casualties will be minor in these final episodes.
