Who is Eric on The Walking Dead?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead is in the midst of airing its last eight episodes of the series. On November 20, 2022, the series will air its final episode after a 12-year run. The first three episodes of season 11, part 3, have done a great job of tying up some loose ends and honoring characters lost along the way.
During episode 19, “Variant,” Aaron (Ross Marquand) had a tender moment with Lydia (Cassady McClincy. He noticed her growing relationship with Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari). He also noticed she was pulling away, not wanting to get too close as memories of losing Henry (Matt Lintz) crept in. He tells her that loss is inevitable and that it always has been.
Lydia has had a rough life, more than viewers ever knew until watching Tales of the Walking Dead’s episode “Dee,” which revealed much more about Lydia and her mother Alpha/Dee’s (Samantha Morton) lives.
The Walking Dead – Eric – Jordan Woods-Robinson
He shared with her that he had been married to Eric, portrayed by Jordan Woods-Robinson, and told her of the instant connection when they first met. But Eric asked him out and would turn him down for six months, but he wasn’t sure why. He told her that the years he spent with Eric in Alexandria were the happiest of his life.
After Eric died, Aaron remembered thinking he wished he could have taken back just one of the “noes,” allowing them to have one more day together.
Eric was introduced in season 5, “The Distance,” while watching our survivors from afar. He and Aaron served as recruiters for Alexandria and had been watching Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the others to assess if they would be good additions to their community.
In season eight, “Monsters,” Aaron discovers that Eric was shot during the raid on the Saviors’ outpost. He has to leave Eric and continue defending against the Saviors. When he returns, he sees a massive amount of blood and no Eric. To his dismay, he finds him reanimated and is led away by Scott (Kenric Green).
It was a sad ending for Eric and a devastating loss for Aaron. But these snips of memories featured in the final episodes are a beautiful way to honor characters who have died in previous episodes.
