Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan cast as lead in new film

Fresh off the set of his new spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead CityVariety reports that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in a lead role alongside Guy Pearce. Morgan’s Walking Dead spinoff series will air on AMC in April 2023, and upcoming, fans will see him in the new movie Neponset Circle. 

The movie is written by John Chase and directed by Pauline Chan (33 Postcards) and will see Toby Oliver (Get Out) as cinematographer. This film will reunite Chan, Oliver and Pearce as they all worked on 33 Postcards. 

Neponset Circle is a gritty crime thriller based on the actual events of an unsolved murder that has shaken the Boston area. The story follows detective Jimmy O’Mannon who, after serving time in prison, finds himself embroiled in an investigation of a serial killer with his former partner and best friend, Ray Delaney. As the duo continues their investigation, the body count rises and Jimmy’s personal life goes south, putting him in the middle of a nightmare worse than he could ever have imagined.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan – The Walking Dead and beyond

Morgan finished filming The Walking Dead in March 2022, with the final episode airing on November 20. He wrapped filming on the Dead City spinoff in October and is also cast in season 4 of the Amazon original series, The Boys, which will reunite him with Supernatural actor Jensen Akles and creator Eric Kripke.

Morgan is well known for his roles in The Walking Dead as Negan, Supernatural as John Winchester, and Grey’s Anatomy as Denny Duquette. But you may not be familiar with other projects he has starred in.

He had a recurring role as Jason Crouse on The Good Wife and roles in several newer films, The Postcard Killings, Walkaway Joe, The Unholy, The Integrity of Joseph Chambers, and very recently, Fall. 

It is exciting news to know that several projects will put Morgan back on our screens, as he is a fan favorite within The Walking Dead universe.
