The Walking Dead has wrapped its run with the airing of its series finale episode on November 20, 2022. Very fittingly, Lennie James, who plays Morgan in TWDU, was present at the finale celebration in Los Angeles. He was one of the first characters to appear and the one who saved our hero and leader Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

James talked to Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick during the red carpet arrivals at the TWD Finale Event. Hardwick asked him what Morgan would think of the group if he saw them now. He feels Morgan would be blown away by them and that they have always been a part of Morgan and always will be.

Morgan and his son Duane (Adrian Kali Turner) saved Rick after he left the hospital, unaware the end of the world had happened while he was in a coma. They nursed him back to health and were supposed to reconnect with him in Atlanta. When that didn’t happen, it was quite some time before Rick would see Morgan again, and by that time, the apocalypse had really done a number o him mentally.

During the season finale of season 5, Morgan returns to Rick’s life in Alexandria. By the end of season 8, Morgan is ready to be on his own again and leaves the group. This is when he becomes the first character to crossover from TWD to Fear the Walking Dead in its fourth season.

Fear TWD is now filming its eighth season, and Hardwick asked James if there is anything he can share about Morgan. He teases that since they are now filming Savannah, the series will have alligators and snakes. He goes on to say that fans will have no idea what Morgan goes through in the upcoming season. Whatever the creators could heap on him will happen this season.

Fear the Walking Dead will return in 2023 with its eighth season on AMC and AMC+.
