The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series is currently filming in France and is expected sometime in 2023. Fans saw Norman Reedus ride off in the series finale episode of The Walking Dead in search of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), but he will somehow end up in France, against his will, in his own series.

AMC has released some first-look photos of the Daryl Dixon series, and it appears he is still in trouble upon his arrival in France. In the first photo, he looks to be on his knees with his hands bound, and a blindfold is now around his neck. Perhaps this image is from his arrival in Paris.

The second photo shows Daryl with a horse-drawn carriage near a downtown area. Fun fact: Norman Reedus is scared of horses, so it is always interesting to see him in scenes where he must interact with them.

The third photo reveals that the walkers in France, variants or not, are just as gruesome as the ones encountered in the US. Early this month, Nicotero shared a fantastic shot of his work on the Daryl series.

The Walking Dead – Daryl Dixon

Daryl is one of two characters, the other being Carol (Melissa McBride), who has outlasted the series’ 12-year run. Throughout the series, Daryl has come against many obstacles and near-death experiences while also transforming into a very different man introduced in season 1.

He first appeared in season 1, episode 3, “Tell It to the Frogs.” Fresh off a hunting trip, Daryl had a string of squirrels slung over his back while tracking a deer he shot. When he found out a walker decided to eat said deer, he took his anger out on it by kicking it furiously, shouting a string of obscenities. Fun fact: that director and SFX guru Greg Nicotero portrayed the walker.

Another interesting thing about season 1 Daryl is that he and his brother Merle (Michael Rooker) intended to rob the Atlanta group and make off with their supplies. By the end of the flagship series, Daryl would die for any of his found family members without hesitation.

It will be interesting to see where The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon takes his story. Reedus has teased that fans may see some familiar faces in this series. Let’s hope so!
