The Walking Dead series has ended, but more to come in The Walking Dead universe. TWDU has already seen three spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales of the Walking Dead. But that’s not all; the next three new shows that are direct spin-off series of the flagship will be released.

In 2015, the first spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, was released on AMC. Now the series is filming its eighth season, which will release in 2023. Most believe the first four seasons of this series are the best, with season 7 receiving tepid reviews from even die-hard fans. With the change of filming moving from Austin, TX to Savannah, GA, fans are hoping for a reinvention of that series that will bring it back on track.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond was the next spin-off, released in 2020, was a limited coming-of-age series consisting of two seasons. This series saw a significant focus on the CRM (Civic Republic Military) which contains vital information about this mysterious organization. The same that took Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in trade from Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).

In the summer of 2022, an anthology series, Tales of the Walking Dead, introduced many new characters to TWD Family in a series of stand-alone stories.

The Walking Dead spin-offs

The next segment of spin-offs will be direct spinoffs that focus on characters featured in The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead: Dead City – formerly known as Isle of the Dead, this series will see Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) traveling to the island of Manhattan. There they will meet some new characters and a horde of walkers over 1 million strong. This series will release in April 2023.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – will see the titular character, portrayed by Norman Reedus, head to France unwillingly, and there he will encounter the variant walkers seen in the post-credits scene of World Beyond. This series is currently filming in France and will release sometime in 2023.

The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne – after the coda scene of TWD series finale featuring Rick and Michonne (Danai Gurira), fans are even more excited to see a series that brings back the power couple of the apocalypse.
