Will The Walking Dead ever release new info on the movies that will star Rick Grimes?

Fans of The Walking Dead series are curious to know the status of the trilogy of movies that were announced years ago. The flagship series has concluded, and several spinoffs are in the works, so what does this mean for the movies that were to see Andrew Lincoln reprise his role as Rick Grimes? The Rick Grimes movies have been canceled, which is the sad news, but the great news is that Lincoln will be joined by Danai Gurira as Michonne in a spinoff of their own.
In July 2022, at the SDCC event, Lincoln and Gurira surprised fans by appearing on stage after the main Walking Dead panel to announce the spinoff series. This was a welcome announcement as fans were already mourning the ending of the flagship series set o take place in the fall of 2022.
Little is known about what the series will entail, but fans are just happy to know that this dynamic duo will appear on screen again.
Several events contributed to the cancellation of the movies, including changes in AMC executives who preferred to keep the project in-house by making a series to replace the previously announced movies.
Rick Grimes Walking Dead series finale
The Walking Dead aired its series finale on November 20, 2022, and fans, once again, went wild when not only Rick Grimes reappeared but so did Michonne. The scenes were brief, but fans were treated to a bit of back story as Rick’s scenes were in the past and Michonnes in the present.
Production for the Rick and Michonne series is expected to begin soon, with both Lincoln and Gurira executive producing.
