Walking Dead Rick and Michonne spinoff filming updates
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead universe is gearing up for a fantastic 2023. With three new spinoffs and the return of Fear the Walking Dead, the year is shaping up nicely for the fandom. The main point of interest for many fans is the Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) series that will bring these two characters back into the storyline.
According to productionlist.com, Untitled Walking Dead Spinoff (w/t TWD3) will begin filming in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 6, 2023. This negates previous rumors of filming beginning in New Jersey. But it appears the series may be moving to New Jersey in February.
The site has Lincoln and Gurira as cast for this untitled series, with Scott M. Gimple, Robert Kirkman, and David Alpert listed as producers.
The Walking Dead Rick and Michonne series
Many fans are excited to see Rick and Michonne return in a spinoff showing how they reunited. It is also believed there will be a huge reunion with their children and other members of their found family. But this might not be the case.
This pair has endured much over the years they have been gone. The Walking Dead series finale confirmed Rick has been captured and possibly recaptured by the CRM (Civic Republic Military). Viewers knew that Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) traded Rick to the CRM as her ticket into the organization, where she trained and moved up the ranks to become Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes. But there was no other news of what had become of him.
Michonne is obviously in full-on warrior mode by the looks of her new outfit and the scene in TWD finale where she is riding full-on into a massive horde of walkers.
The new spinoff may very well only focus on these two characters, and fans may never see the reunions they expect.
