The Walking Dead series began airing on AMC on Halloween night, 2010. At that point, no one could have fathomed that this series would grow into an ever-expanding universe. Based on the graphic novel by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard, this series has exceeded everyone’s expectations. What is the order of the series in TWDU?

Below is the order of release for each of the series:

The Walking Dead (2010-2022)

Fear the Walking Dead (2015-present, season 8 will be the last)

The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020-2021)

Tales of the Walking Dead (2022-present)

The Walking Dead: Dead City (premieres June 2023)

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (premieres in 2023)

The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne (begins filming in 2023 with a release set for 2024)

Fear the Walking Dead was the first companion series for TWD, and Dead City will be the first direct spinoff. World Beyond was a limited series that was ordered for only two seasons.

Above are the main series titles, but a whole world of webisodes is available on YouTube. These miniseries are another look at new characters in TWD world and events that happen to them while trying to survive the apocalypse.

The Walking Dead universe

If you want to know how to watch The Walking Dead universe in release or chronological order, the writers at Games Radar have compiled the list here. There have been debates about how accurate the chronological order is, but what they have come up with makes sense, and they explain why they set things up in this order. This watching order would be for those who have already watched all of the series and are ready to take a deep dive back into the universe as a whole.

The Walking Dead series has ended, but the universe will still live on in the numerous spinoffs already ordered, and if those do well, there will be much more coming.
