Jerry was introduced in the season 7 episode, “The Well,” where he was seen as the right-hand man of King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) of a community known as The Kingdom. Right off, you can tell he will lend comic relief to any situation, which is a rare gift while living in the end times.

Throughout this time in the series, Jerry proves himself a great warrior who will take up his ax when needed but only kills in self-defense or defense of his friends and family. His behavior often gets under Ezekiel’s skin, but Jerry remains at this king’s side, proving their bond is strong, and is the first to speak up when someone doesn’t give the king the respect Jerry feels is due him.

Although Jerry gave fans quite a scare in the final season episode “Family,” he did survive. During the season 11 one-year time jump, he was seen happily situated in Alexandria with his wife Nabila (Nadine Marissa) and their children Ezra (Micah King), Aliyah (Autumn Azul), and Mariam (Teri Wyble).

In season 11, episode 19, “Variant,” Jerry was injured, but the scene that really worried fans was during episode 23, “Family.” After Lydia (Cassady McClincy) was bitten by a walker and Jerry had to amputate her arm, he sets out in search of Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari), who was lost in the horde. His final words of that episode made fans believe it foreshadowed his death.

"Yeah. I find them, I find you. Piece of cobbler….See you on the other side."

Fans would see Jerry and Elijah again in the last episode of the series “Rest in Peace” as they made their way back to the Commonwealth. They would then aid in the mission to blow up the walker horde that had breached the walls of the Commonwealth.
