AMC Networks recently shocked fans with the announcement that season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead would be the series’s final. The final season will consist of 12 episodes, released in two parts beginning May 14, 2023. The series has seen a downward spiral, especially in its seventh season. With all of the unfortunate news coming from AMC Networks, it isn’t surprising that this series will end.

Fear the Walking Dead is a spinoff series of The Walking Dead that began airing in 2015 and had the potential to become something unique that could rival the flagship. But as time passed, things changed, and not for the better.

In season 4, it seemed an exciting idea to have a character from the main series crossover to Fear TWD. But the show’s creators made the mistake of making the story more about Morgan Jones (Lennie James), the first crossover character within the fandom, and less about key players in which viewers were invested.

After three seasons, fans had more than established their favorites, and when this new guy came along and stole the show, it didn’t sit right with fans. Many of them may have never watched The Walking Dead, which meant they had no attachment to Morgan.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8 wishlist

In the eighth and final season, viewers likely have many things they would like to see occur. With  only12 episodes, which will see a seven-year time jump in the second half, it will be difficult to wrap all the storylines satisfactorily.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8

  • A happy ending for Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista). These two characters also crossed over from the main series, but their storyline hasn’t been made as prominent as Morgan’s. At the end of season 7, the couple discovered they were expecting a child and longed to find a safe place to live. After all they endured at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), they deserve a happy ending.
  • Of course, fans of returning character Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) long to see plenty of her story in season 8. After being thought dead for years, she made her return in the season finale of season 7 and will be a regular in the final season.
  • With no idea of how this could happen, Morgan should find out something about his friend Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). He is unaware that Rick is with the CRM (Civic Republic Military), but Morgan began his story with Rick on TWD and should end with at least some mention of his longtime friend.
  • Indeed most fans have this one HIGH on their wish list, a reunion between Alicia (Alycia-Debnam-Carey) and her mother, Madison. Debnam-Carey left the series during the penultimate episode of season 7, denying fans of the reunion of this mother-daughter team.

Fear the Walking Dead will debut season 8 on AMC and AMC+ on May 14, 2023.
