Walking Dead actress Lauren Ridloff stars in an episode of Accused

Actress Lauren Ridloff is well known for her roles in The Walking Dead as Connie and in the MCU’s Eternals, where she portrays the first-ever deaf superhero, Makkari. Ridloff recently starred in an episode of the Fox crime drama Accused.
The series Accused was developed by Howard Gordon, known for his work on 24, another drama series that aired on Fox. Accused is based on the 2010 BBC series of the same title. The new series debuted on January 22, 2023, and releases new episodes on Fox each week.
Season 1 consists of 15 episodes that open in a courtroom where an accused person is on trial for a crime unknown to the viewer. The events leading up to the court appearance are told from the defendant’s perspective. Each episode tells a new story in a new city with a new cast for each story.
Ridloff appeared in the second episode, “Ava’s Story,” which aired on Fox on Jan. 24, 2023. This episode and the first are available to stream on Hulu. She shared her excitement about the role on Instagram.

Ridloff was approached for the role by Marlee Matlin, who directed the episode. She stated that it was a dream to be directed by Matlin, who is also deaf.
She was joined by Megan Boone, Stephanie Nogueras, Joshua M. Castille, Aaron Ashmore, and Daphne Rubin-Vega, in the episode “Ava’s Story.” This episode featured the tales of a deaf surrogate who decides to intervene when the couple decides on a surgical procedure for the newborn, who is also deaf.
Ridloff is also known for her roles in Charlie and the Hunt, The Magnificent Meyersons, Sound of Metal, and New Amsterdam.
