Walking Dead’s Dan Fogler cast in Benedict Cumberbatch’s Netflix series

Actor, comedian, and writer, Dan Fogler is well known in The Walking Dead universe for his portrayal of Luke Abrams on the series. Luke was introduced after the season 9 time jump when he and his fellow survivors were saved by an older Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming). Variety reports that Fogler has been cast in a new Netflix limited series, Eric.
Directed by The End of the F***ing World’s Lucy Forbes, Eric will be a limited six-episode series that will air on Netflix. Written by Abi Morgan (Sex Traffick) and executive produced by Morgan, Jane Featherstone, Lucy Dyke, Carolyn Strauss, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who also stars in the lead.
The story, set in the 1980s, follows Vincent Sullivan (Cumberbatch), the lead puppet maker and puppeteer of America’s most popular children’s show, Good Day Sunshine. After his son Edgar (Ivan Morris Howe) is abducted, Vincent struggles with his loss. He clings to his son’s drawing of a blue monster named Eric and believes his son will return if he can get Eric on TV. He begins a downward spiral alienating everyone in his life, and Eric becomes a delusion and Vincent’s only ally in his pursuit to locate his son.
Fogler will portray Lennie Wilson, Vincent’s best friend, and colleague who is also a puppeteer and maker. The series also stars Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Clarke Peters, Ivan Morris Howe, Phoebe Nicholls, David Denman, Bamar Kane, Adepero Odyue, Alexis Molnar, and Roberta Colindrez.
The series is currently filming in Hungary and New York.

Fogler is well known for his roles in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Balls of Fury, Good Luck Chuck, and Fanboys.
Upcoming roles include Spinning Gold, a biopic about Neil Bogart, co-founder of Casablanca Records. Fogler will portray Buck Reingold, another co-founder of the record label. The movie will have a theatrical release on March 31, 2023.
He will also play The Apothecary in Verona, a movie inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, set as an original pop musical. This film also stars Rebel Wilson as Lady Capulet, Jason Isaacs and Lord Montague, and Rupert Everett as Lord Capulet. This film is scheduled for a December 2023 release.
