The Walking Dead universe shows and where to watch them

Even with the conclusion of the flagship series, The Walking Dead universe is ever-expanding with new series. By 2024, TWDU will consist of the main series and at least six spinoffs. Many fans enjoy rewatching all the series within the universe, and below, we have the rundown of where to watch.

The Walking Dead – the main series that kicked off the universe. This series began airing in 2010 and concluded in 2022. Fans can watch or rewatch seasons 1-11 with their Netflix subscription. The complete series is also available on DVD and Blu-ray. 

Fear the Walking Dead – this is the first spinoff set in the same universe, but this series begins on day one of the outbreak and is set on the west coast. The series has migrated to different locations, the most recent being Georgia. Fear TWD filmed its eighth and final season in Savannah.

The eighth season will returns to AMC with premiere of season 8, part 2, on October 22, 2023.

Fear TWD seasons 1-7 can be viewed on Hulu.

In July 2023, AMC announced that Fear the Walking Dead seasons 1-7 are exclusively airing on AMC+.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond – this spinoff is a coming-of-age story that follows a group of kids who have grown up during the apocalypse but have been sheltered from the dangers beyond their community’s walls. This series reveals much more about the CRM (Civic Republic Military). Seasons 1 and 2 of World Beyond are available on AMC+.

Tales of the Walking Dead is an anthology series, with each episode featuring a new story and characters in a new location in the United States. The stories range from comedy to supernatural and everything in between. The first season of this series is available on AMC+.

Another series, More Tales of the Walking Dead, has also been announced. No details have been announced for this series.

The Walking Dead universe shows

The Walking Dead: Dead Citythis series follows Maggie and Negan from the flagship series as they travel to Manhattan. This series will introduce many new characters and see how things have fared in Manhattan, a location cut off from the mainland early in the outbreak. Dead City premiered in June 2023 on AMC and AMC+ and has been renewed for a second season.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – this series follows Daryl, from the main series, as he arrives in France against his will. He encounters new people who complicate his goal of returning home. Daryl Dixon concluded its first season in October 2023 and episodes can be viewed on AMC+. The series has been renewed for a second season that will include Melissa McBride as Carol titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. 

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live this series, formerly referred to by its working title, Summit, will see the return of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), the power couple of the apocalypse. The plot is under wraps, but it has been described as an epic love story, and viewers will see how Michonne finds Rick and what Rick has done since he was taken away in the CRM helicopter. The Ones Who Lived was filmed in New Jersey and will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in February 2024.
