Colman Domingo has portrayed Victor Strand on Fear the Walking Dead since season 1. Introduced in the penultimate episode of the pilot season, Strand was someone to be reckoned with. Always a con man, Strand would continue to look out for number one throughout his storyline. Domingo recently shared an image with a caption indicating that filming for the eighth and final season was just about to wrap.

In January 2023, AMC announced that season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead would premiere on May 14, 2023. With this announcement also came the news that the twelve-episode season would release in two parts and also be the last of the series. Another interesting bit of information regarding this season is at some point, the storyline will experience a seven-year time jump.

Showrunners  Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, who took over the positions in season 4, have promised a reimagining of the series in the final season. In the last episodes of season 7, the survivors decided moving from the nuclear wasteland of Texas to a new location would be the best choice to ensure survival. This was to account for filming being moved to Savannah, Georgia, for season 8.

Fear the Walking Dead – Colman Domingo

Not much has been seen of Strand in the promotional materials released for Fear TWD’s season 8 but rest assured, he will play a vital role in the series’ final season. Domingo’s portrayal of Strand in the series has been fantastic. He is the villain you love to hate, and only an actor with actual talent can pull that off.

Below is the photo Domingo shared on social media announcing that filming was almost complete. He also shouts out to Walking Dead veteran Gale Anne Hurd for encouraging him to step behind the camera and use his skills as a director, learned from many years of directing stage productions, to direct episodes of Fear the Walking Dead.  In the final season, Domingo will also serve as a producer for the series.

Domingo directed three episodes of the series, season 4, “Weak,” season 5, “Humbug’s Gulch,” and season 6, “Alaska.”
