Walking Dead fans received a surprise scene at the end of the series’ final episode in November 2022. Fan favorites Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) appeared in a coda scene that caught fans up on what the characters have been up to since departing the series in seasons 9 and 10, respectively.

Rick’s storyline occurred sometime after he was whisked away in a CRM (Civic Republic Military) helicopter with Jaids/Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh) and before Michonne found out he survived the bridge blast. He had escaped the CRM and was trying to return to Michonne and his family but was again discovered by the CRM.

Michonne’s scenes happened in a more recent timeline where she continued to write letters to her children, Judith and RJ. She hadn’t found Rick yet but hadn’t given up hope of finding him. She was dressed in a new kick-ass outfit, designed by long-time TWD costume designer Eulyn Colette Hufkie, fitting of the warrior she is, and was last seen riding into a massive horde of walkers.

Professional horse trainer Tommie Turvey recently shared some fantastic BTS images while filming Michonne’s scenes for the final episode. Turvey worked with the houses on TWD for many seasons and often shared photos from these scenes.
