In January 2023, AMC announced that season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead would premiere in May. This was exciting news for fans of the series, but with that came the sad news that this season would also be the final. Fans are curious to see what will happen with their favorite characters in the last season, and many are concerned about the fate of Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista).

Season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead will be released in two parts, each with six episodes. At some point during this season, the story will experience a seven-year time jump which will bring Fear TWD’s timeline almost current with the final episode of The Walking Dead, which aired in November 2022.

The recent teaser for season 8 revealed the first look at the mysterious PADRE, a location long thought to be a haven. From the looks of the teaser, this organization is not what it was thought to be.

Fear the Walking Dead – Dwight and Sherry

Dwight and Sherry, along with Morgan Jones (Lennie James), are three characters who would begin their stories on The Walking Dead and crossover to Fear TWD. All three will complete their stories in the eighth and final season of the series.

Dwight and Sherry, who were married before the outbreak, have been through so much since the beginning of the apocalypse. They joined with Negan and his Saviors before realizing just how much of a sociopath he was. Dwight stayed with the Saviors and became loyal to them only to keep Sherry safe. When she was able to escape, Dwight started to make plans to get out from under Negan’s thumb as well.

When the saviors fell, Daryl was ready to kill Dwight for everything he had done, but he remembered that Sherry helped him escape the Savior’s prison. He allowed Dwight to leave and told him to look for his wife and never return.

When they finally reunite in Fear TWD, Sherry has changed a lot, but Dwight still has the same feelings for her. Sherry’s trauma from being forced into becoming one of Negan’s wives was much more traumatizing than Dwight’s experience under Negan’s rule. She carried that trauma and the guilt of Dwight becoming the man he did while living as a Savior.

In Fear TWD, Sherry finally tells Dwight that she had been trying to find a way back to Negan so she could kill him. A bit later, she tells him that was an excuse to break things off with him because she isn’t sure she can ever be the person she used to be. Dwight, whose love for her has never wavered, tells her she doesn’t need to be the person she once was. They agree to begin their relationship again.

Fear the Walking Dead – Dwight and Sherry season 8

In season 7, Dwight and Sherry would decide to begin a family of their own, and eventually, she becomes pregnant. Since the final season will experience a seven-year time jump, viewers will surely see their child born and seven years in the future.

After all they have been through, they deserve to get their fairy tale ending and live happily ever after.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8, part 1, premieres on AMC on May 14, 2023.
