Fear the Walking Dead will conclude its storyline with its eighth season, which will premiere on AMC on May 14, 2023. Fans hope to see fairy tale endings for their favorite characters, but there will likely be some heartache along the way. The final season will see a seven-year time jump, bringing Fear TWD’s timeline just about current with The Walking Dead. Could Morgan (Lennie James) travel to Alexandria and reunite with his old friends? It is highly unlikely, but you may not guess the reason.

Morgan Jones is one of three characters who crossed over from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead. During his time in the series, he has become a vital member of the survivors and an enemy of Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). In season 7, Morgan finally met Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), a fan-favorite character who returned to the series after being thought dead for many reasons.

Morgan’s crossover occurred during Fear TWD’s fourth season, and during that time, he realized that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) was right, that he couldn’t keep running from those he cared about. He wanted Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and the others to accompany him to Alexandria. After meeting Martha (Tonya Pinkins) and seeing her state of mind, Morgan realizes he can do more good where he is by helping others and abandons his plans of returning to Alexandria.

The seven-year time jump that Fear the Walking Dead will experience in season 8 would, story-wise, allow Morgan the opportunity to break free from the new big bad, PADRE, and head to the haven of Alexandria. Save for one little snag, the set of Alexandria is no more. After filming of The Walking Dead series ended in March 2022, the walls of Alexandria, located in Senoia, Georgia, were taken down the houses returned to residents.

While many fans hoped to see Morgan reunite with his old friends and possibly Rick Grimes, it won’t happen at Alexandria. There is hope that Morgan could appear in Summit, the Rick and Michonne (Danai Gurira) spinoff series.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8 premieres on AMC on May 14, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET.
