The Walking Dead spinoff series featuring the return of long-time characters Rick and Michonne began filming in New Jersey in February 2023. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will be an epic love story that will reunite the powerhouse couple and conclude their story in The Walking Dead universe in a six-episode series. Recently, it was announced that Lucifer actress Lesley-Ann Brandt had joined the cast of this series.

The Rick and Michonne spinoff will see TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple as showrunner.  He will co-executive produce with Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Danai Guria (Michonne), Brian Bockrath, and TWD veteran Denise Huth.

Brandt will play Pearl Thorne, but details about the character have yet to be revealed. Brandt shared the announcement on social media and did say Pearl is a “VERY South African character.”  Recently Brandt took to social media to share that she is doing some research for her role by watching early seasons of The Walking Dead. It seems the perfect way to get to know the chargers she will be starring with.

The first image of the Richonne reunion was released by AMC, which was touching to see. It is unclear where the story will pick up, but the characters have been apart for several years. They will have endured much during their time apart, and these events will have significantly changed them.

Will Rick and Michonne ever see their children again? Rick has never even met his son RJ, and Judith longs to see the father she can barely remember and the mother she misses terribly.

Don't miss The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live on AMC and AMC+ on February 25.

The official logline for the series reads:

"Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive – or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?"
