Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan teases fans with The Boys photo

Fresh off the set of his new Walking Dead spinoff Dead City, Jeffrey Dean Morgan jumps to filming for Prime Video’s The Boys.  Morgan teased fans with a photo simply captioned “at work,”  tagging The Boys’  Twitter account while giving his famous one-finger salute.

Morgan will reprise his role as Negan in The Walking Dead spinoff Dead City which will premiere on AMC in June 2023. Negan will travel to Manhattan with long-time enemy Maggie (Lauren Cohan) to rescue her son, Hershel, who has been abducted. The new series will have a different feel than the flagship series as it moves away from the woods of Georgia and the like to the apocalyptic streets of Manhattan. Fans are excited to see what is in store for these characters in this new chapter of their lives.

Fans of Morgan’s have longed for the actor to join The Boys series. In the summer of 2022, their wishes came true. Morgan and fellow, The Boys actor Karl Urban took to social media to announce that he had finally been added to the cast.

In November 2022, Morgan would again tease fans with an image of a script for The Boys that he was memorizing as he rode the fences at his farm in upstate New York.

Only yesterday, Morgan would share the image below that, at long last, he is filming for his undisclosed role for The Boys.

Morgan’s inclusion in The Boys reunites him with showrunner and creator Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, in which Morgan also starred. This has been in discussion with Kripke and Morgan for quite some time, but Morgan’s TWD schedule and other projects didn’t allow it to happen.

The fourth season of The Boys will also see Morgan reunite with fellow Supernatural actor and close friend Jensen Ackles who plays Soldier Boy in the series. That is if his character returns for this season! Ackles told fans in an Instagram post regarding his character and the series, “Love these peeps. Can’t wait to throw the suit back on. That’s my Christmas wish.”

Little has been disclosed about Morgan’s character, but in an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir on The Boys, has stated this about Morgan’s character

"I would say his Sun sign is ‘badass,’ and his Moon sign is ‘You don’t even want to f—ing know.’ I don’t know how much can be revealed about that character, but I think the cool thing about this show is we’re always going in different directions and showing you different storylines and different characters in ways you wouldn’t expect, so I think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is going to play a role that stays with fans for a long time."
