The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actor Michael Zegen is also known for portraying Randall in season 2 of The Walking Dead. He is known for many memorable roles throughout his career, and now Variety reports he has been cast in the series The Penguin.
The upcoming series created for HBO Max by Lauren LeFranc is based on characters from DC Comics. The Penguin will be a sequel to The Batman, released in 2022. The series will focus on Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot/Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City. Craig Zobel, known for his work on Mare of Easttown, will direct the first three episodes of season one, which will contain eight episodes.
Colin Farrell will reprise his role as the titular character, with Cristin Milioti joining as Sofia Falcone, daughter of crime boss Carmine Falcone. Zegen joins as Alberto Falcone, Carmine’s son. Clancy Brown will portray Salvatore Maroni, another mob boss in Gotham whose operation ended when Falcone ratted him out. Other actors tied to the series include Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, James Madio, Scott Cohen, and Theo Rossi.
In the comics, Alberto Falcone takes credit for the murders of the serial killer, The Holiday Killer, who targets gangsters each month on a holiday. It is yet to be announced if Zegen’s Alberto will also take this storyline.
