Fear the Walking Dead season 8 trailer confirms seven year time jump
By Renee Hansen
WonderCon 2023 has come and gone giving fans of Fear the Walking Dead some fantastic insight into the eighth and final season as well as an action-packed trailer. This year’s event saw Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman, Karen David, co-showrunner Ian Goldberg, and Executive Producer Michael Satrazemis in attendance to reveal the last season’s trailer.
The announcement regarding the seven-year time jump was revealed in January and was confirmed during the WonderCon panel. Season 8 will be picked up where seven left off, with Morgan (Lennie James) and the newly returned Madison (Kim Dickens) making a rescue attempt to recover Morgan’s daughter Mo but things don’t go as they planned.
Somehow the other survivors will find themselves living at the long sought-after PADRE location, which turns out to be anything but the haven it was thought to be. The survivors will live under this organization’s cynical rule and find themselves demoralized and dejected. Mo will be the key to creating the long-sought-after better world.

The time jump will bring Fear TWDs story closer to the same timeline as The Walking Dead’s finale. Many fans hope this means there will be some spinoff opportunities for the characters in Fear TWD, but showrunner Ian Goldberg stated at WonderCon that every character in the series would conclude their story during this final season. While this could mean no continuing stories for these characters, it doesn’t rule out origin stories or offshoots.
