Fans of The Walking Dead and its numerous spinoff series love to see crossover characters and storylines. One of the best-known crossovers is that of Morgan Jones, who Lennie James has portrayed since the pilot episode of The Walking Dead, which was released in 2010.

In the pilot episode of The Walking Dead, Morgan and his son Duane (Adrian Kali Turner) rescue Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). After the outbreak, Rick left the hospital to discover a whole new world with no clue what had transpired since he entered the coma and wounds that needed tending. Morgan befriended Rick, and they formed a bond that would bring them in and out of one another lives until season 8 of The Walking Dead.

At this time, Morgan believed he needed to be away from people, and this would see his crossover to Fear the Walking Dead in that series’ fourth season.

The full-length trailer for the eighth and final season of Fear the Walking Dead was recently released at Wondercon 2023. The trailer, narrated by Morgan, shows that this season will see a heavy focus on PADRE, a seven-year time jump, and feature Morgan, Grace (Karen David), and their daughter Mo (Zoey Merchant), return to King County, Georgia, where Morgan’s story began.

Morgan returns to the home he lived in with Duane (Adrian Kali Turner), and it also appears they visit the “Clear” apartment where Rick found Morgan in season 3. He finds the gun Rick gave him, which Morgan was supposed to use to put down his reanimated wife, Jenny (Keisha Tillis). He could not do this, resulting in Duane being bitten and killed by the walker version of his wife.

In the trailer, Grace tells him that “Rick, he gave you this gun for a reason. Use it.”  Fans love the fact that Rick is mentioned in Morgan’s story in the final season of Fear the Walking Dead. It doesn’t appear that he is looking for Rick, or he would have headed straight to Alexandria, so it will be interesting to find out what has happened to make Morgan return to Georgia.

Only time will fill in the gaps in Morgan’s story when Fear TWD returns to AMC+ on May 11 and AMC on May 14, 2023.
