Walking Dead’s Hilarie Burton Morgan’s true crime series renewed
By Renee Hansen
Deadline reports that One Tree Hill and Walking Dead actress Hilarie Burton Morgan’s It Couldn’t Happen Here true crime series has been renewed by SundanceTV. This renewal is part of AMC Network’s push to bring more true crime series to its catalog.
It Couldn’t Happen Here will return for season 2, while True Crime Story: Citizen Detective and Crimes of Entitlement (w/t) have been added to the lineup. All three series will air on SundanceTV, AMC+, and SundanceNow.
The purpose of It Couldn’t Happen Here is to shed light on crimes that take place in a small town across the United States that doesn’t receive the press coverage that the same crimes in larger cities would receive. The series title is uttered by those living in these small communities when a tragedy occurs. Anytime a tragic event happens, it has detrimental effects, but those living in rural and small towns are rocked like no other when horrific events hit their communities.

The second season of It Couldn’t Happen Here will be another six-episode season that sees Burton Morgan tackling more small-town American stories and the effects on the communities where the crimes were committed. Season 1 of the series aided in the release of Devonia Inman, who was wrongfully imprisoned for 23 years.
Be sure to follow the social media pages for the series, as they have been established as gathering spots to spread information about the cases featured in the episodes. It allows more people to get involved and help solve the crimes that otherwise would remain unsolved, likely forever.
The Linktr.ee has been set up with information for individual cases allowing a deeper dive into the facts with the hopes that justice can be served.
If you follow Burton Morgan on social media, you know she doesn’t do anything halfway, and that is the same with the cases featured in It Couldn’t Happen Here.
"We are so happy that SundanceTV is renewing the series and continuing their commitment to shining a light on small-town justice. Their reach, along with Hilarie’s passion for sharing the stories of underserved individuals, will continue to make a big difference in bringing awareness to these communities. -Robert Friedman, executive producer of It Couldn’t Happen Here"
