Michael Rooker – other roles

Rooker’s first and most controversial role was that of Henry Lee Lucus in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. The MPAA denied this film an R rating as it stated no cut of the film could qualify for that rating, so it went unrated, and reviews were mixed for the shocking and disturbing content.

He is best known for his role as Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead and as Yondu in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vols. 1 and 2.  But fans have loved him in all of his roles, including Slither, Corrective Measures, Creepshow, What if…?, The Suicide Squad, F9: The Fast Saga, The Dark Tower, Love and Monsters, Fantasy Island, and Brightburn.

Rooker has several upcoming projects, including Fast X, The Out-Laws, Road Rage, and Kevin Costner’s new western Horizon.

In March 2023, Rooker was named the Grand Marshal of the Pala Casino 400.
