Walking Dead’s Ian Anthony Dale stars in an episode of Accused
By Renee Hansen
Actor Ian Anthony Dale is known for his role as Dr. Tomi Okumura in the final season of The Walking Dead. He was the long-lost brother of Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura), and the siblings were reunited at the Commonwealth. Dale is well known for many of his roles, and now he will star in an episode of Accused that airs on Fox.
Developed by Howard Gordon, who is known for his work on another Fox drama, 24, in which Dale also starred, Accused is based on the BBC series from 2010 of the same title. This series debuted in January 2023 and is a fantastic anthology crime series told from the defendant’s point of view.
Dale’s episode “Jiro’s Story” aired on Fox on April 4 and is available to stream on Hulu. The episode also stars Julia Chan, Takashi Yamaguchi, and Sarah Power. The episode follows Jiro (Dale), who, after the death of his mother, takes over the care of his brother, who has a traumatic brain injury from a car accident. His brother lives in a group home, and it appears he is being abused.
One thing that drew Dale to the episode is that it was written by Karl Taro Greenfeld, who happens to be half Japanese, which is also Dale’s heritage. The story is a Japanese-American story, and he felt an instant connection to it.
You can hear him talk about it in his Instagram post below.
