Fear the Walking Dead fans are excited about the upcoming season while dreading it simultaneously. The series’ eighth season also marks the final, which makes for a bittersweet time within the fandom. Sadly the premiere won’t happen in April, but fans don’t have much longer to wait, as episode one of season 8 will debut in May 2023.

The final chapter of Fear the Walking Dead will release in two six-episode parts and experience a seven-year time jump. The seventh season left the survivors as they were fleeing Texas by rafts, a location that a nuclear bomb had destroyed. The survivors could no longer find a safe place to live and began their search for a new, safe place to live.

The seventh season also saw the return of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), who had long been thought dead. Her return was celebrated as she was a fan-favorite, and her die-hard fans held out hope that she didn’t perish during the fall of the Dell Diamond. While they celebrated her return, they were sorely disappointed by the departure of her daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), feeling they were cheated of the reunion of the mother/daughter duo.

Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC and AMC+

It was initially reported that season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead would premiere on AMC and AMC+ on the same day. Since then, it was announced that AMC+ subscribers will be able to view the episode on May 11, while viewers who watch on AMC will see it on May 14 at 9 p.m. ET.

Wondercon 2023 saw the release of the full-length trailer and gave viewers a more extended look at what can be expected in the final season of the series. Many returning characters are featured in the trailer, while others remain absent. One exciting thing the seven-year time jump will feature is an 8-year-old Mo, played by Zoey Merchant and Dwight (Austin Amelio), and Sherry’s (Christine Evangelista) child will be about six years old by this time.
