Actor Ethan McDowell joined The Walking Dead series during its final season as Washington, a member of the Reapers. McDowell is well known for his roles in Ms. Marvel and Doom Patrol and will star in the upcoming film Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

Written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, known for The Edge of Seventeen, this film is based on the Judy Blume novel from 1970 of the same title. In a January 2023 interview with the Today Show, the author says the movie is better than the book, which is high praise indeed.

The story is a coming-of-age tale that follows Margaret, a sixth grader whose family moves from New York City to the burbs of New Jersey. She begins the journey of finding out exactly who she is while her mother and grandmother are also rediscovering who they are. It is a timeless tale that has transcended decades and spoken to many generations.

Abby Ryder Fortson portrays Margaret with Rachel McAdams as her mother and Kathy Bates as her grandmother. McDowell joins additional cast members, Elle Graham, Benny Safdie, Wilbur Fitzgerald, and Mia Dillion.

Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret release date

The film will release in theaters on April 26. On April 19, there will be early access screenings at select theaters. Check the website for theater locations.
