Rick & Michonne showrunner Scott M. Gimple “working so hard” on spinoff
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead spinoff series that will feature the return of Rick & Michonne is a hot topic within the fandom. Fans are excited to see the couple reunite and take on the CRM (Civic Republic Military). Summit (working title) showrunner TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple recently Tweeted somewhat of an update on the progress of the series.
Gimple stated that he would tweet more about the series if he wasn’t working so hard on the series. Add to that, he gave praise to Andy (Lincoln) and Danai (Gurira), the cast and crew, who are also hard at work to bring life to this spinoff. It is good to hear everyone is working to make the Rick & Michonne story something worth viewing.
Rick and Michonne parted during season 9 of The Walking Dead series, and this new story will fill in the gaps of their “epic love story” and see them come together once again. It is expected that they will come against the CRM, the organization to which Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) traded Rick. In the coda scene of the last episode of The Walking Dead, Rick escaped but was found again by the CRM. He is obviously someone of importance to them as they are quick to eliminate those who come against them.
Details surrounding the six-episode series have been kept under wraps, but Lesley-Ann Brandt, who has been announced as joining Summit as a character named Pearl Thorne, shared her own teaser tweet. She stated that she has read the script for the last episode with emojis indicating it will be shocking.
Gimple, Lincoln, Gurira, Brian Bockrath, and TWD veteran Denise Huth will executive produce the series that is scheduled to release in 2024.
