The Walking Dead cast reunites at AMC Upfronts promoting new spinoffs
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead universe is gearing up for an exciting 2023. Fear the Walking Dead will premiere its eighth and final season in May, followed by the debut of the first direct spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, in June. Next, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will see a fall premiere with Rick & Michonne spinoff following in 2024. Some of the cast were reunited at AMC Upfronts held at Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 18) in New York City.
Fans were very excited to see some of the key players from The Walking Dead series reunite on the red carpet for the event. Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Lauren Cohan attended the event to promote their upcoming spinoff series. The actors are well known in TWDU for their portrayals of Negan, Michonne, Daryl, Maggie, and Rick, respectively.
Morgan and Cohan will star in Dead City, a spinoff focusing on the characters Negan and Maggie as they travel to Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim). Reedus will star in Daryl Dixon, a spinoff that takes his character to France. Gurira and Lincoln will continue the epic love story of their characters, Michonne and Rick.
Morgan’s wife, Hilarie Burton Morgan, was also in attendance. She joined TWDU in the season 10 episode “Here’s Negan,” where she played the onscreen wife, Lucille, of her husband’s character Negan. She was an outstanding addition to TWD cast, and fans wish she had more screen time.
Also in attendance were Reedu’s Daryl Dixon co-stars Clémence Poésy and Kiowa Gordon.
