Fear the Walking Dead saw the return of fan-favorite Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) in season 7. This character was thought to have died during the fall of the Dell Diamond stadium in season 4. Fans of the series know that if there is no dead body, the character can always return and held out hope that Madison would reappear. In season 8, which is also the final for the series, viewers will learn what occurred with Madison and her escape from death.

AMC will debut season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead on May 14 at 9 p.m. ET. AMC+ subscribers can watch this episode on May 11. The final season will release in two six-episode parts, with the second released later in 2023.

Insider reports showrunner Ian Goldberg said, “We will answer how she survived the stadium.” It only seems fitting that this would be answered, especially in the final season. Bringing her back into the story without explanation would be a letdown.

Dickens told Insider, “I can’t imagine it not being a part of the story, because I think it’s just too juicy. So I don’t know how that will play out or if it will, but I do kind of know the ideas they have for that.”

Fans can expect a much colder Madison as she has been through some stuff during her absence. It was revealed in season 7 that she works for PADRE, where she takes children from parents they believe can’t adequately provide for them. She made the mistake of taking Morgan’s (Lennie James) daughter Mo, and he fought back.

The upcoming season will see the pair teaming up to rescue Mo, but the entire group will live at PADRE under less-than-favorable conditions when things don’t go as planned. The final season will also see a seven-year time jump which should make for an exciting ending to the series.
