The Walking Dead universe is ready to release new content in 2023 and 2024. Fans of the main series disappointed that story has concluded have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming months. There are several new series with upcoming release dates and many more in production.

Fear the Walking Dead is the first spinoff of the main series. AMC will release this story’s eighth and final chapter in two six episode parts beginning May 14. AMC+ subscribers can start watching on May 11. The final installment of Fear the Walking Dead will pick up where season 7 ended, Morgan (Lennie James) and newly returned Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) were headed to PADRE to rescue Morgan’s daughter Mo. This season will jump ahead seven years and find all the survivors living at PADRE in unfavorable conditions.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8 part 2 will release on AMC and AMC+ on Oct. 22, 2023. This segment of episodes will conclude the stories of this series.

The Walking Dead spinoff series release dates

The next series to release in 2023 will be the first direct spinoff of the main series titled The Walking Dead: Dead City. This series is set a few years after the events of the series finale of TWD, which sees Maggie (Lauren Cohan) tracking down people who have abducted her son Hershel (Logan Kim – a recast for this series) to Manhattan. Somehow Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is the key to his release and teams up with Maggie. They will encounter new people on their mission, some friends, others not so much. Dead City will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on June 18.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will release on AMC and AMC+ on September 10, 2023. This series will focus on Norman Reedus’ character Daryl, who somehow ends up in France. Daryl will wash ashore without remembering how or why he is there but knows he wants to return home. When he was last seen in the series final of TWD, he went in search of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), and according to Reedus, things don’t go so well. He will encounter people in France that make his goal of returning home difficult.

The Rick & Michonne spinoff will see these characters return to The Walking Dead universe and continue their epic love story. Rick had been traded to the CRM (Civic Republic Military) by Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh), while Michonne has been looking for her true love this whole time. The series will fill in the gaps of what has occurred since they parted and show the couple’s long-awaited reunion. This series is scheduled for release in 2024.

More Tales of the Walking Dead, which is being assumed as a second season of Tales of TWD, has also been ordered. Tales of TWD was an episodic anthology series introducing new characters to TWDU. More Tales will hopefully show some backstories of familiar faces from the main series.

Scott M. Gimple, the TWD chief content officer, has said if these new series do well, there are many more projects on the back burner. It is rumored that Daryl Dixon has begun filming for a second season, and Dead City is expected to continue with a second season.
