Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff details so far and first look video
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is one of several spinoffs of The Walking Dead series that will continue the story of one or more characters featured in the main series. Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus since season 1 of the flagship, will travel to France for his new adventure.
No information has been released on how he will arrive in France, but when he washes ashore, Daryl won’t know how or why he arrived at his new location. He will, however, know that his main objective is to make his way back home. This task proves difficult due to the new people he will encounter.
Reedus has stated that Daryl Dixon the series will have a much different tone, light, and sound than The Walking Dead. He has also said that fans shouldn’t just expect a continuation of the story told in the main series but more of a reset.
David Zabel, known for ER and Mercy Street, is the showrunner for the series and is new to The Walking Dead universe. TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple shared that Daryl will be a “fish out of water” in this new series and will be required to reinvent himself in his new surroundings.
Daryl will encounter another thing in this series: the French variant walkers seen in the coda scene of The Walking Dead: World Beyond series finale. It appears that a variant walker originated in France and could prove a challenge even for a seasoned walker killer like Daryl. He may have to find a new weapon as it is doubtful that he arrives in France with his crossbow in check.
