Fear the Walking Dead season 8 episode 1 NON SPOILER review
By Renee Hansen
Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, May 14, at 9 p.m. ET with the premiere of its eighth and final season. Viewers who subscribe to AMC+ can watch this episode on Thursday, May 11. The episode is titled “Remember What They Took From You,” and was written by showrunners Andrew Chambliss & Ian Goldberg and directed by Michael Satrazemis.
This episode is definitely a departure from season 7, which is a good thing. Things begin shortly after the events of the season 7 finale when Morgan (Lennie James) and newly returned Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) were heading, blindfolded, to PADRE. And as promised from the trailer, there is a time jump of seven years which introduces an 8-year-old Mo, now played by Zoey Merchant. As the trailer highlighted, she lives at PADRE and is being trained to fight walkers.
The first episode also introduces a new character, Dove, played by Jayla Walton, a PADRE resident.
Overall the first episode is much better than anything seen in season 7 and is focused mainly on Madison, Morgan, and Mo. It seems that events of the past seven years will be slowly revealed over time, and the true nature of PADRE will also be shown.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8
Overall it was a solid start to a series that has hopefully left behind the choppy anthology format of season 7. The departure from Texas has led them to what appears to be the deep south, possibly Louisiana, as it is swampy with lots of water. This makes for interesting interactions with the undead.
The final season of Fear the Walking Dead will surely be good. This season will be released in two six-episode parts. Don’t miss the season 8 premiere of Fear the Walking Dead on AMC on Sunday, May 14, at 9 p.m. ET. Undead Walking will post recaps, MVP, and other articles after the AMC airing of episodes each week.
