The Walking Dead: Dead City who is the new villain The Croat?

Fans of The Walking Dead are gearing up for an exciting 2023. This year, AMC will release the final season of Fear the Walking Dead and introduce Dead City and the Daryl Dixon series, followed in 2024 by the Rick & Michonne spinoff. Dead City will be the first new spinoff in 2023, and with that comes a new villain named The Croat.
The new trailer released for Dead City gave a better look at what viewers can expect from the new series. It has long been known that Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) son Hershel (Logan Kim) is kidnapped, and somehow Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is the key to his release. In the trailer, Maggie confides in Negan that she was raided and her son was abducted and not by just anyone, someone Negan knows.
The Croat, played by Zeljko Ivanek is a man from Negan’s past who, according to Morgan, “is an underling of Negan’s from back in the day. But he has taken the evil to places where not even Negan in his heyday has gone.”
Does that mean he is a former Savior? Or perhaps someone who had dealings with the Saviors? Negan made many enemies after forming the Saviors. Could his arm have reached as far as Manhattan? The Croat and his group appear well known in Manhattan, as the people assisting Maggie and Negan know of him and his ways.
The Walking Dead: Dead City – The Croat
If The Croat and his group raided Maggie, does this mean she was no longer at Hilltop? In The Walking Dead series finale, Maggie wanted to talk to Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) about exploring outside their communities. Perhaps she and Hershel began scouting for other communities as they did while she was with the Wardens and ran into The Croat.
It will be fascinating to see it all pieced together in The Walking Dead: Dead City when it premieres on AMC on June 18, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET, with subsequent episodes airing at 9:00 p.m. ET.
