Fear the Walking Dead fans have been counting down to the season 8 episode titled “King County,” as it means that Morgan (Lennie James) will return to the beginning. King County is the location in Georgia where Morgan and his son Duane (Adrian Kali Turner) first met Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).

In an earlier episode of Fear TWD, “Blue Jay,” Madison (Kim Dickens) created a diversion so Morgan could return to fix some of his past actions. He believes things he didn’t do in the past hinder his ability to care for Mo (Zoey Merchant) in the present.

Viewers know he holds some serious guilt regarding the deaths of his wife Jenny (Keisha Tillis) and son Duane. He reverted to his graffiti wall writing as he did in season 3 of The Walking Dead and this time King County, Jenny & Duane were written on the walls of his house boat. Previously, Morgan could not put down the reanimated form of his wife, which would later result in her attack on his son. He was forced to shoot her then, but he was never clear on whether or not he put Duane out of his undead misery or let him roam.

The fact that he wants to return to Georgia to make things right gives the impression that Duane could still be roaming about.

The clip below shows Morgan’s return and the fact that he doesn’t make the journey alone.

One thing that isn’t clear is how far Morgan had to travel to get to this location. In season 7, they were in Louisiana when he and Madison boarded the small boat that was taking them to the larger one that would eventually find them at PADRE. Where they went from there is unclear. If he had to travel from Louisiana or anywhere in the gulf to Georgia, that was no easy trip.

Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, June 4, a 9 p.m. ET with “King County.”
