Did Fear the Walking Dead set up a Rick Grimes and Morgan reunion?
By Renee Hansen
In the most recent episode of Fear the Walking Dead, fans were treated to a bit of nostalgia as Morgan (Lennie James) traveled to King County, Georgia, where he first encountered Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the pilot episode of The Walking Dead. Did Fear the Walking Dead set up a future reunion between these two characters?
Morgan made the journey back to Georgia in the fourth episode of the final season of Fear the Walking Dead to fix something he didn’t do long ago. Viewers knew this had something to do with his son Duane (Adrian Kali Turner), who died long ago in an attack by his mother Jenny (Keisha Tillis), who had been turned into a walker. This was a subject of guilt that Morgan had long carried with him.
He believed he needed to return to Georgia and put his son to rest to prove that he could be the father Mo (Zoey Merchant) needs him to be.
Fear the Walking Dead Morgan and Rick
If Morgan can make the trek to Georgia with such ease, viewers are hopeful that he could do the same and head to Alexandria and discover the fate of his friend Rick. Would Morgan then make it his mission to locate his long-time friend?
It is unlikely that this reunion will take place in Fear the Walking Dead but perhaps in a spinoff series.
James has stated that season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead will end his role as Morgan Jones, a role he has played for 13 years. But if an extraordinary story came along, he would consider reprising it. Perhaps creators can create a Rick and Morgan spinoff that would see the highly anticipated reunion between these two original characters, and they take down the CRM.
Fear the Walking Dead premieres new episodes on AMC on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET and AMC+ three days early on Thursdays.
