The Walking Dead: Dead City is the newest Walking Dead spinoff which will premiere on AMC on June 18 at 9 p.m. ET. Another exciting bit of news, Joe Bob Briggs will host a special Dead City version of The Last Drive-In on Shudder on AMC+.

The Last Drive-In series airs on AMC’s Shudder, featuring host Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl (Diana Prince) as they watch horror films and give commentary. The series has run for five seasons and shown 13 specials.

Briggs will host the premiere episode of the new Walking Dead spinoff while providing his colorful commentary. This isn’t Briggs’ first time combining his horror-themed show with the undead. In 2021, Briggs and his special guest Walking Dead executive producer and SFX master and director Greg Nicotero viewed the series’ first two episodes. They discussed the evolution of the walkers from the series and talked about some of the iconic walkers featured throughout the series.

So, who will be his special guests for the Dead City premiere? Over the years, Briggs has hosted some impressive names, including iconic actors, directors, artists, and more, so it will be interesting to find out who joins him for this episode.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

Dead City will continue Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) stories, two characters featured in The Walking Dead series, which ended its 11-season run in November 2022. The pair will travel to apocalyptic Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim), who has been abducted.

This series will be a drastic change from the flagship series’ wooded setting and introduce many new characters. The early reviews are in and many have said this is the best spinoff in TWDU.
