Fear the Walking Dead’s midseason 8 finale gave fans something incredible to chew on until part 2 of the final season resumes in the fall of 2023. The final scene of the episode shows the hands of some unknown person collecting a wide variety of familiar pieces of memorabilia as they listen to a radio call from Madison (Kim Dickens) stating that PADRE has fallen and the children are safe.

This article contains spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead’s season 8 midseason finale, “All I See Is Red.”

At the tail end of Fear the Walking Dead season 8 episode 6, “All I See Is Red,” viewers watched as Morgan (Lennie James) and Mo (Zoey Merchant) bury Grace (Karen David) in Eastman’s (John Carroll Lynch) cemetery. And head off in search of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). They also see Madison (Kim Dickens) tell the children of PADRE she will help them locate their parents using PADRE’s file information for each of them.

Then a coda scene appears with some very interesting pieces of information. Someone is listening to an announcement by Madison over the radio.

"My name is Madison Clark. If you can hear this message, you are in the territory PADRE once patrolled. PADRE has fallen. They are no longer a threat to you or your children. If you lost a child, come to the following coordinates and send an SOS on this channel: 31 degrees, 51 minutes north. 81 degrees, 10 minutes west. We will find you. We will do our best to reunite you with your children. We’ll make up for all the damage PADRE did to you."

Fear the Walking Dead season 8 midseason finale explained

The mystery person takes down the coordinates and packs away Strand’s (Colman Domingo) aviators, a hammer, and a map with marks of locations from Mexico, across Texas, and to the gulf. The final item shocked viewers as it was Alicia’s (Alycia Debnam-Carey) prosthetic arm. The mystery person’s hands are very small, possibly feminine, and the hair is long and blonde.

Several people have claimed that the character Troy, portrayed by Daniel Sharman, has made a comeback despite being bludgeoned in the head by Madison with a hammer. He was seen on set, but this is quite the stretch to resurrect a character killed in this manner, even for Fear the Walking Dead.

JULY UPDATE: AMC announced Sharman’s return at SDCC 2023. You can see it in this promo video.

Other familiar individuals could potentially be this mysterious figure.

  • Althea (Maggie Grace) – she was last seen on the run from the CRM with her girlfriend Isabella (Sydney Lemons), a CRM soldier. Al always had dark hair in the series but could have dyed it to conceal her identity. This seems a stretch as she wasn’t with the group when they were at the Gonzalez Dam.
  • Procter John (Ray McKinnon) – the fate of John was never known after the dam blew up. He was on opposite sides of Madison and her family so that he could be someone seeking revenge on this group.
This person is likely already introduced to the series because only six episodes remain to wrap up Fear the Walking Dead’s storyline.

Fear the Walking Dead season 8, part 2, will premiere on October 22, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET. This will be the beginning of the end for the series that has six episodes remaining. AMC+ will air new episodes three days early.
