San Diego Comic-Con will occur at the San Diego Convention Center July 20-23, 2023. Fans of The Walking Dead universe have been waiting for official announcements about whether or not there will be a TWD presence at the event or not. Variety reports Hall H will see a Walking Dead Universe panel.
On Friday, July 21, from 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. PT, Hall H will feature a Walking Dead universe panel covering everything in TWDU. According to the SDCC website: Fans will get exclusive, first-look access to all things The Walking Dead Universe.
UPDATE: July 2023 – Actors will not be present during the panel due to the SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes.
SDCC wish list:
- Fear the Walking Dead season 8 part 2 premiere date and official trailer.
- The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiere date, official trailer, and season 2 announcement.
- The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne teaser trailer.
- The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 announcement.
Fear the Walking Dead could be the biggest presence at the event for TWDU as this series still has the back half of its final season that will air in the fall of 2023. Many actors are busy with new projects, but to commemorate the last season, it would be great to see several actors present.
This event will happen two days before the AMC airing of the season finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City, so unless there is information for a second season, it’s unlikely that Lauren Cohan or Jeffrey Dean Morgan will make an appearance.
The Walking Dead SDCC 2023
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will begin airing in the fall so that fans could see Norman Reedus at the event and maybe some of the other cast members. This would be the opportune time to reveal the premiere date, air the official trailer, and announce the second season and Melissa McBride’s involvement.
The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne series won’t air until 2024, but Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira made a surprise appearance at last year’s event to announce their spinoff. Since little has been revealed about this series, SDCC would be a great time to give viewers some news about this series and some teaser footage.
